There will be a railroad deconstruction project of the former DWP railroad bridge this week that will cause the closure of a portion of West Skyline Parkway.  The City of Duluth wants motorists to be aware so they are able to choose an alternative route.

A contractor will be demolishing the DWP railroad bridge that crosses over West Skyline Parkway north of the Becks Road intersection.  The work will be done throughout the days of September 17, 18, and 21 (Thursday-Monday). Because of the hazards associated with any bridge demolition project,  the contractor may need to close Skyline Parkway to through traffic at the existing bridge site.  Their plan is to do this between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm.

During this time, motorists will be able to travel Skyline Parkway on either side of the bridge site BUT will not be able to drive through the bridge site.   Watch for signs that will be posted at each end of Skyline Parkway notifying you of the closure when the closure is in place.

During other periods of the work the Contractor will be maintaining vehicle access through the work site through use of signage and flaggers as necessary.   Please remember to travel slowly through this area and use caution, especially near the workers.
