Grandma's Marathon's Young Athletes Foundation continues it's partnership with Duluth Public Schools and Essentia Health to bring an amazing speaker and athlete to the Northland next week.

I realize spring is a still a long ways away, but once I hear news about the annual Fitger's 5K Run & Walk I start to get excited for a change of season.  The downside is that the Fitger's 5K marks the start of my steady training schedule for the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon and I'm still in lazy winter mode.

If you and your family have experienced Wednesday Night at the Races with the Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma's Marathon, you already know how much fun you'll have this Saturday.  If you haven't attended the event before you'll be hooked.  Get ready for (drum roll) Saturday Morning at the Races.  (Indoors!)

It's become a tradition for some, whether it's spectating, running, volunteering or even walking.  Why not be part of Northern Minnesota's Oldest Road Race~the Park Point 5 Miler.  It's absolutely awesome running the Point, so picturesque and if you get too hot, you can just take a dip in Lake Superior!  Sign up SOON!

Registration is now open for northern Minnesota’s oldest road race – the 43rd annual Park Point 5-Miler scheduled for Friday, July 18.  This is terrific annual event that I've run many times over the years.  All my memories of the race are that I had a great time and I it always seems to be nice and hot outside.

The Fitgers 5K is Saturday.  The forecast is currently calling for a wet, sloppy run but that won't deter the runners, myself included.  If you're running, packet pickup is going on at Fitgers Friday until 6pm, then again Saturday morning from 7am - 8:30am.

It's always fun to be a part of the first year of an event.  Runners, here's your chance to take part in the first running of a new, untimed, event hosted by Grandma's Marathon that benefits the Young Athletes Foundation.

It's hard to believe but we know we are near the end of summer and the last Wednesday Night at the Races. Families across the Northland have made this a summer Wednesday night tradition and this week you can enjoy some time together at the picnic after the races!
