Did you watch Grandmas Marathon and become inspired to run?  Did you train for a race marathon weekend and want to stay in shape? Here's another great Duluth race to check out - northern Minnesota’s oldest road race – the 42nd annual Park Point 5-Miler scheduled for Friday, July 19.

It's a fun summer tradition that generally has taken place on a warm evening, so with another winter storm headed our way I think it's a perfect time to announce that registration is now open for northern Minnesota’s oldest road race – the 42nd annual Park Point 5-Miler scheduled for Friday, July 19.

With the popular Fitgers 5k race coming up April 20th, entries are no longer being accepted.

I've run Fitger's 5K that past several years, and it's a great way for me to kick off training for the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon.  This year's Fitger's 5K is April 20th and if you want to join the fun, sign up soon to guarantee your spot.

Saturday, April 21st is the 23rd annual Fitgers 5k in downtown Duluth.  This year there are a record 1,848 registered participants set to run and walk in the morning race.  The Fitgers 5k is one of the first spring road races in the Northland, and a race I enjoy running in despite the hills of the bridge over the freeway.  This race is also the largest fundraising event for the Young Athletes Foun

The Young Athletes Foundation (YAF) recently awarded $6,070 in grants to five area nonprofit youth organizations. Grants were awarded to: Duluth Salvation Army Rookie Basketball Association ($3,000), Encounter Youth Center ($1,000), Positive Energy Outdoors ($570), Piedmont Youth Hockey Association ($1,100) and Two Harbors Kayak Festival ($400)...

The whole family will enjoy every Wednesday night until the end of August with free youth races presented by the Young Athletes Foundation.  All the information is below, but speaking from experience, this is a great way for your kids to get exercise, collect participation ribbons and spend time as a family making memories!  AND IT'S FREE!!!

This year looks pretty good for the runners/walkers of Grandma's Marathon Park Point 5 Miler.  Not too hot, and no rain!!!  Are you up for the challenge?  You can still register the day of the race....get together with friends and get some exercise while you help out the Young Athlete's Foundation!

The weather forecast for this Saturday, April 16, is calling for cold temps and snow. Not exactly ideal for the 22nd Annual Fitger's 5K Run/Walk, but the race, like the postal service, will go on despite the weather.....unless there's lightning.
