Signs on both sides of the Blatnik Bridge are alerting motorists that the bridge will be closed during the early morning hours of Monday, July 23rd.

Belknap Street construction continues along in it's second phase of the multi million dollar project. Since the last update they've completed work on the south side water main, and storm sewer to Hughitt Avenue.

Traffic cones aplenty.

Northbound lanes are closed on Highway 53 between 18th Avenue East and 9th Avenue East due to a water main break.

This is a pretty terrifying thought for those of us who commute over a bridge each day here in the Twin Ports.  There has been at least two instances in the last decade where a vehicle careened off a bridge and over the guard rail.

There's a lot of hate for roundabouts. Maybe it's because some people are confused by them, or are just resistant to change. According the Wisconsin DOT there are many benefits to the roundabouts. Here's what they've found.

As long as I can remember, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenue west have been one way streets.  It's been a little confusing over the years.  Well, Duluth is changing these streets to two way now and it will probably cause confusion again for a while.  We took a drive to see the progress.

A couple of years ago, a roundabout was put in at the foot of the Bong Bridge in Superior.   People lost their mind.  What is this new confusing circle intersection?  People drove the wrong way on it, failed to yield, and in at least one case drove right over the top of the darn thing.

The Duluth-Superior area is admittedly not a major metropolitan area. While that may be true, it still has a notable amount of noise from roadway traffic and air traffic.

The zipper merges is the process that the flipping DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION tells you to do.  When a sign says merge ahead, wait until the merge point to change lanes.  USE BOTH LANES UP UNTIL THE MERGE TO PREVENT A BACK UP!
