4 weeks ago On top of the winter-like weather expect through the Northland into Thursday afternoon, there is also a Flood Advisory for much of the area into Friday morning. With existing snow melting, St. Louis County had to close even more roads due to flooding.
April 24, 2013 The Northland has received record snowfall this Spring. As that snow begins to melt, flooding is something to keep an eye on across the area.

We were already seeking alternative routes to work, child care, to almost everywhere due to our regular season of construction. July 7, 2012 While it was anticipated, it's good to finally get official word that President Obama has declared 13 counties in Minnesota as well as three tribal reservations a federal disaster area. This opens the door to federal aid for Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Crow Wing, Dakota, Goodhue, Kandiyohi, Lake, Meeker, Pine, Rice, Sibley and St. Louis counties as well as the Fond du Lac Tribal Nation, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and the Grand Portage Tribal Nation.
July 7, 2012 June's flood waters may have receded, but there is still a tremendous amount of cleanup to be done, with the costs associated with it. Many people have questions and many people are struggling to find aid options. Hopefully those questions will be answered over the next few days.
The summer tradition of visiting Jay Cooke State Park has been disrupted for thousands of families due to extreme damage from the flooding that ravaged the area on June 20.The Minnesota DNR offered a tour of the flood-ravaged Willard Munger State Trail and Jay Cooke State Park today (July 3) to media crews, offering damage estimates and a timeline on when they expect to have the park open for business.
July 2, 2012 Seeing how tourism is crucial to the economy of Duluth, it would make sense to spend money on a tourism ad campaign since people across the country last saw us as a flooded mess. Our partners at the Northland's News Center are reporting that the City Council will vote Monday night on whether to allow community leaders to allocate up to $75,000 to the city's tourism arm "Visit Duluth" from the tourism tax fund.
June 29, 2012 After seeing firsthand the flood damage in the Northland, and after FEMA visited our area as well, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has has sent his recommendation for federal disaster relief to President Obama today.

June 26, 2012 For many, a long road to recovery remains in place following Northland flooding. While it is a daunting task, each day can bring a little progress. We received word from The Minnesota Department Of Transportation that more roads that had been closed are becoming passable once again. According to their press release:
Four highways remain closed in Northeastern Minnesota after last week’s storm that caused massive flooding. Three of the four closed highways have short detours in place.
June 26, 2012 A main artery just outside of Duluth remains closed until road crews can repair the road after the massive flooding last week.
