The Minnesota Department of Transportation has completed a five-year study of several two-lane Minnesota highways, and the result will be the raising of the speed limits to 60 mph on 340 miles of highways across the state.

According to StarTribune.com, among the highways that will have faster speeds include segments totaling 111 miles along Hwy. 55, segments totaling 65 miles along Hwy. 23 and 54 miles along Hwy. 212.

The speed limit changes will take effect once signs are posted, and MnDOT will study other Minnesota highways to see if speed limit changes make sense.
