If you and your family have experienced Wednesday Night at the Races with the Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma's Marathon, you already know how much fun you'll have this Saturday.  If you haven't attended the event before you'll be hooked.  Get ready for (drum roll) Saturday Morning at the Races.  (Indoors!)

The staff at Grandma's Marathon and the board of the Young Athletes Foundation have outdone themselves with a FREE event for the family that includes exercise, excitement and accolades.

The event will have the same feel as Wednesday Night at the Races, except that it will be on Saturday morning and held indoors at the Ward Wells Field House on the UMD campus.  Register between 9:00a-9:50a with the races to begin at 10a.  What a great way for your kids to run off some of that energy they've been stifling because they've had to be indoors due to our cold weather.

Here are the ages categories and distances for both genders:

  • Wheelchair division – 1/8 mile
  • 4 & under – 1/8 mile
  • 5 & 6 – 1/8 mile
  • 7 & 8 – 1/4 mile
  • 9 & 10 – 1/4 mile
  • 11 & 12 – 1/2 mile
  • 13 & 14 – 1/2 mile

Plus, you'll enjoy some photo ops with UMD's mascot "Champ", the Minnesota Viking's mascot "Viktor" and members of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders. Set that alarm to wake up early because if you're one of the first 250 kids to register you get a commemorative official Saturday Morning at the Races t-shirt too!
