We've been on a roll in the Northland with new companies looking at the area with new jobs.  Too bad a step backwards will be taken with the closure of the Duluth Georgia Pacific facility at the end of August.

The Northland's NewsCenter is reporting that the employees of the Duluth Branch of the Georgia Pacific Manufacturing Company were informed Tuesday morning that they were out of a job.

The Duluth branch employed 143 employees with all but two being let go with the closing.

Mayor Don Ness voiced obvious disappointment but vowed to continue to look for businesses to come into the area to utilize this facility as well as others.
