Minnesota Twins Are Last Winless Team In Majors, Hopefully Posting This Will Make Them Win

The Minnesota Twins have stumbled out to an 0-4 record and are now the only team in the majors without a win.  The good new is....okay there is no good news, especially since it was just announced that starting pitcher Scott Baker will miss the season after elbow surgery.  I know that the baseball season is 162 games long and we're only four games into it, but they haven't even been close to winning a game yet.  We've been spoiled with competitive Twins teams up until last year and a great new ballpark to boot.

Dayton Decries Photo ID Push With A ‘Veto’

I posted a story on this last week and thought that it wasn't a bad idea to require more identification to vote.  My point was that government issued ID's are required for the most basic things such as opening a checking account so why not require such identification for something as important as voting?

Gopher Gary Tinsley: A Tragic End To An Inspiring Turnaround

Such a sad story.  I had heard Friday of a University Of Minnesota student found dead in their apartment.  Then as the day went on and more information was made available, we all found out this student was starter on the Golden Gophers football team and was so very close to graduation.  Gary Tinsley was a great contributor to the football team, but far more important is he appeared to be a great young man who had put himself on the right track.  We won't know what happened until the medical examiner releases their report, but I thought this story was a nice look at this young man.

Vikings Trade 1st Round Pick To Tampa Bay! At Least I Think They Should

I love to follow the drama that is the NFL Draft.  I have been reading so many mock drafts that have the Vikings taking the very safe and good pick in OT Matt Kalil.  Then there are those who think the Vikings should roll the dice with flashy WR Justin Blackmon.

Minnesota Waitress Sues After Police Seize $12,000

Struggling mom has a very strange encounter with a customer and is left with a box.  Box contains $12,000!  I think the key to this story is that she notified the police right away and they told her if nobody claimed it within a certain time she could have it.  That time passed and they extended it.  That extended time passed and they said she couldn't have it because it's "drug money".   Because they didn't disclose that right away, it sounds like they're making up the rules on the fly so I can see her reasoning behind the lawsuit.

A couple of questions come to mind.  First would if this happened to you would you notify police or just take it as offered?  Second, if the series of events this woman experienced happened to you, would you sue or just take the police offer?  Here's the whole story:

When Is The Minnesota Fishing Opener? Perhaps A Week Early This Year

This amendment would only impact this year.  It is now in the hands of Governor Mark Dayton to sign.  Proponents of the bill say that it avoids a Mother's Day conflict with the Minnesota opener and it takes advantage of the warmer weather the state has experienced lately.  Opposition comes primarily from resort owners who say this short notice is causing them stress in preparation and meeting customers needs.

What do you think?  Do you support having the Minnesota opener moved up a week this year or do think the state should leave things as they are?

Photo ID Amendment Passes Senate, Heads To Voters

This amendment would make it a requirement to have a government issued photo ID in order to vote in Minnesota.  I was actually amazed when I moved, and then registered to vote in my new location, how little verification was actually required.

In my opinion, you need

NFL Shows Off New Line Of Uniforms By Nike

When the new NFL season begins, teams will all have new uniforms as Nike has taken over production.  As you will read, the Seattle Seahawks used this opportunity change the overall look to their uniforms.  However, for most teams the changes not very noticeable.  The Vikings and Packers will look much as they did last year, although the fit and feel to the players is said to be improved.  I'm sure the teams are looking forward to fans wanting to own the new jerseys however.

Bear Hunt Application Are Now Available

Um, not for me, but I know ALOT of people that dig hunting bear.  My friend Brenda in Esko is AWESOME at hunting bear and she uses a bow, NOT a rifle.  SCARY!

If you are into bear hunting the DNR just opened their application process this week, you have until May 4 to apply.

Is bear REALLY tasty?  What do you make, Bear Stir Fry?  Bear Cordon Bleu, Swedish Bearballs?
