The City of Duluth needs public input on a variety of different issues that affect you, depending on where you live and where your interests lie.  They realize your time is precious, but your suggestions and questions are crucial to the direction they go with many decisions.  You have a voice, attend the meeting(s) to be heard.

Street Reconstruction Informational Meeting for Hawthorne Road, Vermilion Road and St. Marie Street

The public is invited to attend an informational meeting for the 2013 Street Reconstruction of Hawthorne Road, Vermilion Road and St. Marie Street. The meeting will be held at the Ordean East Middle School Cafeteria, on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. The project is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2013. Between 4th Street and Wallace Avenue, the project includes removal of the existing concrete pavement and curb and gutter; construction of new bituminous pavement and curb and gutter; water main replacement; storm sewer work and the construction of ADA pedestrian ramps. The project also includes selective removal and replacement of concrete pavement at the intersections of Hawthorne Road and 1st Street and 2nd Streets.

Future Use of the Rockridge Elementary School Site

The Duluth City Planning Division in conjunction with the ISD 709 will be hosting a community meeting to discuss the proposed change on future uses and development of the Rockridge Elementary school site. City Councilor Jennifer Julsrud, First Council District (Precincts 1-7) and Kerry Leider, Director of Property and Risk Management for ISD 709, will be delivering a presentation on the on future uses and opportunities for development for the existing building and site. The community meeting addressing this matter is scheduled for Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at the Portman Community Center at 4601 McCullouch Street. Proposed New Fire Hall in Woodland

The public is invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday, March 5th at the Woodland School Media Room beginning at 5:30 PM to discuss the proposed construction of a new fire station that will replace the current Woodland and UMD station. The station consolidations are part of the Fire Department’s study’s recommendations. The purpose of the meeting is to lay out the proposal and get public input into the plan.
