When Did You Learn To Tie Your Shoes? Kids Seem To Be Learning Later Now For This Reason
I remember sitting on the stairs and having my dad show me the two different ways to tie my shoes. I must have been about 6 or 7, when I learned about the bunny ears, or the rabbit running around the tree. I realized yesterday that our 8 year old, going into 3rd grade, didn't know how to tie his shoes when we got him new ones for school. How could this be!? Here's the reason.
In the first couple of years at grade school, kids are asked to have velcro shoes by the school. It's easier for the teachers to get the kids all ready to go. I understand it must be easier, but I guess next time around with our daughter I'm going to teach her how to tie her shoes a little earlier.
