The City of Duluth will continue working on updating the infrastructure of our sewer system in downtown Duluth this week and for some,  that will alter travel.  Here are the full details so you can plan ahead accordingly.

This week of you'll see construction blocking avenues as they move from west to east in downtown Duluth. This project has been done in phases to and will ensure the viability of the sewer line.  This is something that needed to be completed before they start working on Superior Street. The cleaning and televising of the sewer lines under Superior Streetis done and now they are lining the sanitary sewer under the street between 4th Ave West and 4th Ave East.

Here's how the process will play out this week, each individual blocks sewer pipe should take about a day.  They'll be working on it from 6a-6p, the following day.  As they finish one they'll continue to move eastward.  You may find that the work will affect some of the parking availability on Superior Street and the avenues near each block will be closed off to traffic for 6-8 hours.

Also, it's important to warn pedestrians in the work area that you may smell a strong chemical odor in the area they are working, they are expecting that, nothing to be alarmed about.  If all goes as planned they hope to be done with the project by the first week in November.
