Sad news out of Minneapolis today as the Minnesota Timberwolves announced in a press conference that Flip Saunders has been hospitalized for testing and treatment following a setback in his fight with cancer.  Saunders was diagnosed this summer with Hodgkins lymphoma.

He has been ordered by owner Glen Taylor to refrain from contacting the team and to focus on his health.  Until he is able to return to the team, The Timberwolves confirmed Friday that assistant Sam Mitchell will take over as interim coach for Saunders, who is also the president of basketball operations. General manager Milt Newton's responsibilities also will expand.

Below is the ESPN report on today's news.  Here's hoping Flip is back on track in his treatment and recovery very soon as his condition remains treatable, according to his doctors.
