Wolves have been protected recently by the federal government, but that may soon change again.   A Republican amendment to strip protection of wolves has been approved by a Senate committee, and now will go to the full senate.

This has been a big debate and it gets people hot under the collar.  The gray wolf has been put back on the endangered species list in Great Lakes States after a federal judge ruled Friday that Minnesotans can't kill a wolf unless it threatens their lives directly.  This also means that farmers and ranchers worried about wolves preying on cattle can't kill the wolves themselves.
