Our city's beautiful Lakewalk is many things to many people.  For some it's a morning walk with the view of a calm lake.  For others, it's a place they can bring their pets for exercise.  Speaking of exercise, it's a place for people to job, run, ride bike and roller blade.  Other will remember their wedding photos taken there or falling in love walking hand in hand....ok, now I'm getting cheesy,

Grandma’s Marathon has announced its 2014 Don Fennessy Volunteer of the Year. Marge Swor and her family received the award at the organization’s volunteer appreciation event Sunday night at Grandma’s Sports Garden.

Grandma's Marathon is grateful for their numerous volunteers that put in countless hours before, during and after the race.  For years, they have recognized, a public employee or elected official that is worthy of  receiving the prestigious Rudy Perpich Public Service Award.  Who will you nominate this year??

Interested in law enforcement?  Before you enroll in a college course, get a taste of the real thing and volunteer your time to be in the Explorers Post with the Duluth Police Department.  One stipulation is that you must be between the ages of 15-20.  If you aren't interested in volunteering, but want to learn more about the responsibilities of our police officers, there is an 11 week course that

We're already at capacity for our 2nd Annual Dirty Chicks ATV Ride presented by Benna Ford Roush!  Thanks to everyone who registered, we can't wait to get dirty with you!  While it's going to be a fantastic day of hanging with friends and hopefully getting as dirty as possible on the trails in Sturgeon Lake, we're also doing it to raise awareness and donations for WINDOW Victim Services.  Read Mor

Remember when the bookmobile use to come to your neighborhood?  Ok, well...I don't.  We didn't have that service in the rural area of Wrenshall when I was growing up.  But, I did ride my bike to the Carlton Public Library in the summer, I loved reading!  The Duluth Public Library is starting a service reminiscent of the bookmobile, but will use volunteers delivering to shut-ins.  What a great idea

The trail that needs to be constructed this Saturday will be a gravel walking path from the new Lincoln Park Middle School to Devonshire Street.  It is designed to give those students who walk to school, a quick easy route to the lower streets and Grand Avenue.  Can you help?

Congratulations to Pam Kleinschmidt, the 2012 Minnesota Crime Prevention Association’s (MCPA) Volunteer of the Year!  Based on the nomination letter written by a member of the Duluth Police force, I can't believe she hasn't won it sooner and am grateful for her hardwork and dedication to our community...
