March 29, 2012 It looks like we may not be out of winter yet! This morning, Adam Lorch from the Northland News Center said there could be some snow to the north overnight. The National Weather Service agrees, saying that we can expect a rain snow mix this evening before 7pm, and snow between 7pm and 1 am
March 5, 2012 BAM! We got hit with a blizzard in the Northland, then this week-end, it's been snowing on and off for the last 48 hours!!! The snow is piling up and we are out of practice with what to do with it. The Duluth Police Department has some suggestions on what to do, to make snow removal easier. Plus, it's a great reminder about alternate side parking.

Another storm has come and gone with nothing but underwhelming results in the Twin Ports. Officially we got less than an inch of snow through the overnight, but lots of wind.
Expect flurries throughout the day, with totals equaling less than an inch. Heavy winds will continue with gusts up to 45 mph.
The heavy winds off the lake blew dry air into the oncoming storm which prevented the snow from forming.

The blizzard in New Hampshire has gotten so bad that at least one car actually skidded off the highway, ending up stuck vertically in the air.

I have often fantasized about making some sort of snow removal contraption. This guy Craig from Michigan actually did it and made a snow plow for his bike, not a bad idea for the right situation.
Check out this video from Georgia, a snowplow was clearing a parking lot when his truck falls into a hole that was covered by snow. The driver, thankfully, was not injured.
The obvious question is, why was there a hole big enough to swallow a truck in the middle of this parking lot?
