Second Harvest

Attending the Empty Bowl Event to fund the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank is something I look forward to every year!  I could spend hours in the basement of The Depot, near the trains, looking at the amazing bowls that our local artist have hand-crafted.  If you missed it, you can still bid online until four today!

I'm so excited for the annual Empty Bowl next Tuesday, April 14.  I will be there  to serve delicious soup to benefit Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank!  It actually started months ago when adults and children in our community started putting time and talent into making the bowls.

I always look forward to the Empty Bowl Event!  While I know it's designed to help fund the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, I can't help but feel that Spring is that much closer to reality.  I also always enjoy adding another "Empty Bowl" pottery piece to my collection and the soup at the event is unique and delicious.  They are already preparing for The Empty Bowl Event 2015! Kids, families and even dogs are invited to get their picture taken with Santa at the Fitger's Complex.  Donations benefit the Northern Lights Foundation and Second Harvest Food Bank.  It's FREE to military families and pets are welcome!

Scotty McCreery wants to do his part and hopes you'll help.  He recently teamed up with dosomething.org and Wal-Mart to collect the top-requested item at food banks, not only here locally, but across the Country.  Delicious peanut butter.  But, he's got a deadline!

If you are a bow hunter and are in for the thrill of the hunt, or still have lots of venison leftover from last year and are able to donate the meat to the hungry, then read on to benefit the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.  Your compassion and donation of venison is greatly appreciated!

A local Carlton man, Timothy Soden-Groves, is not only compassionate and giving, he is also insightful.  The weather will soon be colder and the holidays will be upon us.  Many turn to the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank to keep meals on the table for their families.  Timothy is on a mission to stock the shelves and feed those in need.
