Most of us only think about the food shelves in our area around the holidays.  But the sad truth is that the food shelf is important to many Northland families year round.  March is FoodShare month and is important in the fact that the donations are matched!  Please keep this in mind during your next trip to the grocery store and be generous.

Unless you've experienced being out of diapers, you don't understand how crucial they really are.  There's lots of different reasons why families may not have diapers, but it's proven to be a growing stress in the Northland.  That's why the Lutheran Social Services is asking for diaper donations.

I am going to be in my element when we broadcast live from Dunkin' Donuts 7-9a Tuesday morning.  Besides delicious donuts (as you know, my favorite), it's our chance to see you face-to-face.  It's the Grand Opening Celebration and a special day for the Northern Lights Foundation.

I love stories like this.  We all see the bell ringers donating hours of their time to ring the bells and raise money for the Salvation Army.  It always feels good to make a donation into the red kettles rather than walk right past, but sometimes people go above and beyond the call of duty.

Kacey Musgraves did more than just dump a bucket of ice water on her head, she did a little dance too!  Then, she throws out a challenge to ol' Willie!

We're already at capacity for our 2nd Annual Dirty Chicks ATV Ride presented by Benna Ford Roush!  Thanks to everyone who registered, we can't wait to get dirty with you!  While it's going to be a fantastic day of hanging with friends and hopefully getting as dirty as possible on the trails in Sturgeon Lake, we're also doing it to raise awareness and donations for WINDOW Victim Services.  Read Mor

A community landmark that was built in 1952 to commemorate the service of WWII and Korean War veterans from Gary New Duluth.  After 60 years of honor, this Northland landmark is in desperate need of repair.  Plus, there's plans to do build a new monument to recognize additional veterans.  Can you help?

We're always told to remember the REAL spirit of the holidays.  That would include helping your neighbors and those in need in our community.  There are several ways to do this, through the Salvation Army.  Not only will it be appreciated beyond words, but will leave you with an incredibly wonderful warm and fuzzy feeling of helping others.  Here's some ideas for you and your family to choose from

Over a year ago, my sister-in-law joined the Peace Corps and flew off to Guatemala.  After a very long flight, and 5 hour bus ride on a small road, followed by riding a donkey for several miles, she arrived at her destination.  It's truly amazing the work she is doing down in Guatemala with the Peace Corps.  Here's how you can help.

In the July-August 2011 issue of "Wild Times", Lake Superior Zoo's newsletter, the animals have some specific wishes for the summer.  If everyone chooses one or two things to donate, we'll round out the list in no time!  Here's the list, what can you give?
