The Grand Opening Book Fair is set for Saturday, September 16, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The event will fill the parking lot between the independent bookshop and Beaner’s Central Coffeehouse in West Duluth.
You may already have a Duluth Public Library card that allows you borrow books and enjoy all the amenities of they have to offer, so you might not be interested in upgrading to one of the two new designs. However, if you have children, this would be a great way to put a little spark in that summer time reading interest.
I think I was in 5th grade when I first read Gary Pauslen's 'The Hatchet.' It was the first book I ever read where I couldn't put it down. I was searching online for a place I could buy a copy of it for my son, when I found these pretty fantastic fan videos.
Ken and I are often asked to read to kids in a classroom setting. It's fun for us to visit with the kids and interestingly we sometimes end up reading books that was read to US when we were growing up. But, we can only cover so many classrooms. If you volunteer your reading talents with Rolling Readers so many more Northland children will benefit. Consider giving a bit of your time to the kids
I had scrap books when I was young (which are now fading) and I joined the scrapping craze when that was trending (and was NOT that creative). I'm loving the idea of the Smash Books. If you have a freshman either starting junior high or college, this a fantastic way to capture their start of a fantastic journey and not just with pictures.
Well! I'm not jealous or anything (maybe a little) but back when I was going to school we only had brown paper bags to cover our books. This idea will add a little color and personality to your schoolbooks and it's SO easy! Just recycle a gift bag (of the right size, of course) and you will have unique school books that stand out from the rest.
Whether it’s a race, our careers or our personal or professional goals, we all face finish lines of one kind or another. Reaching the finish line is not necessarily the reward, but rather, it’s the journey along the way and how we feel when we get there that is so rewarding. The Finish Line: Going the Distance in the Marathons of Life is about much more than running.
What bibliophile hasn't dreamed of just putting money into a vending machine and out comes a book that you can read to your heart's content? Sounds great, but not very likely, right? Well, that's where you're wrong. The Monkey's Paw, a used bookstore in Toronto, Canada has created such a machine.
I thought it would be best to blog this because of all the back-to-school students, especially our College crowd. It would be a bummer to take a city bus, or worse yet, waste our precious gas and time to go to the library, only to have it closed. It won't be closed for long though, here's the details.
