My husband and I have always had storm drain issues, but even more so now that the new Duluth Middle School has been built.  We get a rush of water from that facility because we live down hill of it.  We investigated and found that there is a good reason why.  If you have similar problems with storm drain run-off, you are encouraged to attend a meeting to have your voice heard. We appreciate that the city is giving us the opportunity to tell them our issue.  Our problem is that they have an orange material just below the storm drain grate.  These are suppose to deter the leaves, dirt and small branches from getting into the storm drain, we get that.  However, it also blocks the rushing water so that it continues down our street and the erosion is fierce.  Our road is horrible because of it and now we can tell the City thanks to an annual public storm water meeting.

It's coming up on June 28th at 6:30 pm and will be held at the MNDOT building at 1123 Mesaba Ave. We understand that barriers are in place to keep the pollutants out of our streams, rivers, and lakes.  But, it's at the expensive our roadways that we don't have money to fix and it's wrecking my car long before it's time.
Ctiy Representatives will be on hand to give us info on their storm water programs already in place and they are looking to improve them.  That's where we, the public, comes in.  They are looking for the community to participate to make the system better.  Thank goodness!

If you have questions prior to the meeting or are unable to attend the meeting you can direct them to Chris Kleist, City of Duluth at (218) 730-4063 ckleist@duluthmn.gov
