Randy Travis Still Critical After Stroke, Stars Show Outpouring Support
As fans and onlookers anxiously await news about Randy Travis‘ health, fellow country music stars have been steadfast in showing their support of the iconic singer.
Travis, 54, was in good health until a few weeks ago, when a viral infection sent him to the hospital in Texas. That led to congestive heart failure, but Baylor Heart Hospital doctors said the was showing signs of improvement just a few hours before he suffered a stroke on Wednesday (July 10).
That night, Travis was ushered into surgery around 9:30PM ET to alleviate pressure on his brain caused by the stroke. It was well after midnight when the Associated Press reported that Travis was out of surgery.
Unfortunately, the ‘Three Wooden Crosses’ hitmaker remains in critical condition as of press time today.
It would seem that all of Nashville is rallying behind Travis, as country stars and fans are uniting with well wishes, even trending a #PrayforRandy hashtag on social media outlets.
“We’re all pulling for you Randy,” Brad Paisley tweeted after learning the news that the singer had been ushered into brain surgery. Other stars have promised to pray for Travis, including Reba McEntire, Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes, Jake Owen and dozens more.
Nancy Jones, the widow of Travis’ country music hero, George Jones, is said to have paid a visit to Travis on Thursday (July 11).
It’s clear that news of the star’s decline has hit the country music community hard. “I always feel like he’s part of our family, he’s in our family,” Keith Urban said in an interview (quote via USA Today). “And I was one of those guys in Australia that bought ‘Storms of Life’ and became a Randy fan very quickly in late ’80s, and I really feel for him right now.”
Travis’ family and friends are standing by at the hospital, and they have thanked fans for their support. We at Taste of Country wish Travis and his family the best during this difficult time.
