I was asked to vote on Facebook.  Wait, what?  Proctor Schools or Lakeview Christian Academy could win a contest that would bring The Band Perry to the Northland or net them $100,000!!  Why wouldn't you do something as simple as cast your vote once a day until the contest ends?  You don't have to attend either school or even live in the city to help with a vote.

Students from both Proctor High School and Lakeview Christan Academy are committed to making this a success with your commitment.  But, they can't do it alone, you're votes are needed.

More importantly, it's teaching students the importance of safety, like pledging to wear seatbelts and not texting while driving.  Millions of dollars in grants have and will be awarded to winning high schools with 10 percent of each grant dedicated to teen driver safety education.

Here's what you need to do to pledge to the "Celebrate My Ride Contest" :

Go to the www.celebratemydrive.com website and register to vote. Click "Make A Commitment" it will bring you to a page that asks you for your email address and your birth date. You must be over the age of 14 to participate in the contest. Put in Minnesota as the State, the school you wish to vote for and the zip code if you know it. The website will then bring you to the appropriate school as an option.

I just voted and it was easy!!  Do your part as a student, parent or community member and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE....daily until October 24th!

Winners will be announced on/or around November 14.  Best wishes to the Proctor High School and Lakeview Christian Academy and thank you for promoting safe driving for all!
