For people who love to use the Willard Munger State Trail, there's a little bad news and a lot of good news, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Repair is scheduled to be done in order to stabilize parts of the treadway damaged during the 2012 flash flood.  This will also allow that section of the trail to have a wider surface and shoulders, consistent with other sections of the trail.  That's the good news.

The bad news is that the repair project will take place from mid-April through August, and it will impact a 5-mile section of the Willard Munger State Trail, between Grand Avenue and Becks Road in West Duluth.  Because heavy equipment will be operating in the area, the section of the trail will be closed to all traffic throughout the project.
