Northbound Lane on I-535 Blatnik “High” Bridge Reopens Today; Bong Bridge Construction Starts in 2014

If you're heading to Duluth from Superior on the Blatnik tonight you'll be able to use both lanes.  The right lane will reopen at approximately 6:00 PM.  But take note, you may experience temporary lane closures next week.

Be aware that construction will continue next week to finish minor work.  After that work is done they are expecting to have the entire project completed.  The evening of Friday, October 26 will be exciting, it will be the first time the new LED lighting system will be lit on the bridge.

 Future Construction Plans:

• 2014 - Spring to Fall      Bong Bridge/US 2, Westbound lanes, Duluth bound-closed
• 2015 - Spring to Fall      Bong Bridge/US 2,  Eastbound lanes, Superior bound-closed
• 2017 - Spring to Fall      Belknap Street/US 2, Banks Avenue to East Seventh Street
