Miranda Lambert Previews ‘Over You,’ Song About Blake Shelton’s Brother

Four the Record
RCA Nashville

Miranda Lambert says one song on her new album reduced her and husband Blake Shelton to tears. The couple co-wrote ‘Over You’ about the death of Shelton’s brother who was killed in a car crash in 1990. It’s the second of five songs Lambert is previewing from her new ‘Four the Record’ album.

Us Weekly exclusively premiered the song on Tuesday. Much like ‘Fastest Girl in Town,’ the song will be available all week with fans who listen to all five having a chance to win a flyaway to one of Lambert’s upcoming concerts.

But you went away / How dare you / I miss you / They say I’ll be OK / I’m not going to ever get over you,” Lambert sings during the chorus. The song will be difficult for anyone who’s recently lost a loved one to get through. Actually, it’s difficult for anyone who hasn’t lost a love one to get through, too.

Livin’ alone here in this place / I think of you and I’m not afraid / You’re favorite records make me feel better / Cause you sing along with every song,” she sings during the second verse. In an interview with Taste of Country, Lambert said this song is strongly being considered as the follow up single to ‘Baggage Claim.’

She told Us Weekly that Shelton didn’t want to put it on his album. “He said he’d rather me have it,” she says, “mainly because he wasn’t sure he could get through it every night onstage. It’s one of our favorite songs.”
