Congratulations to Mr. Paul David, Kindergarten Instructor at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School.  They are the recipient of B105's first maurices $200 grant for Service Learning.

The kids have learned why trees are vital to the environment and will plant their seedling trees today!  I think it's fantastic that kids this age are learning about the ecosystem and Carbon Cycle.  Here's more on this Service Learning Project.

Paul Davis, Kindergarten Instructor, Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School.  Students from Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary will participate in the planting of trees on school grounds and in the Stowe woods.  The tree planting will be directly and indirectly connected to the science curriculum at all
grade levels.  The students will understand, through prior discussion and lessons, the vital role that trees play in our Northeastern Minnesota ecosystem and globally as part of the Carbon Cycle. Students will connect and work alongside various community members throughout the planting event.  The tree planting will take place on Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
If you're a teacher working on a Service Learning Project, you could win a $200 grant from maurices too!  Here's the link to the application and more information. [Service Learning]
