Here’s An Easy Way To Get A Once-In-A-Year Special Opportunity At Bentleyville

The Duluth's Salvation Army is once again kicking off its biggest fundraiser of the year with a Red Kettle Karnival. It's set to take place on Wednesday, November 8 from 5-8 pm. The cool thing is that you can actually get a once-in-a-year chance to walk inside the base of the Bentleyville Christmas tree!

Nathan Bentley is going to light up the big centerpiece Bentleyville tree that has over 150,000 LED lights. If you bring a new toy or a non-perishable food item, you can experience the lights and music from the inside of the 40-foot base of the tree. That's a pretty cool experience!

The food and toy drive will help support Salvation Army centers across the region including Cloquet, Duluth, Grand Rapids, Hibbing, International Falls, Superior, and Virginia.

The event also kicks off the Red Kettle fundraiser. The Salvation Army once again has a huge need, looking to raise $225,000 from the Red Kettles. In the hope of getting more volunteers to ring bells, they've shortened the volunteer hours to 2-hour shifts. There has been a decreased number of volunteers for ringing bells in recent years. Much of that was due to the pandemic.

Another new thing the Salvation Army is featuring this year is The Red Kettle Queen. She will be making appearances at several Red Kettle locations and invites 'the littles' to dress up as royalty and come visit her and have the chance to be crowned Red Kettle Royalty.
