Last night I got a emergency text that several Iron Range firefighters were battling a fire that was in progress at the Hibbing Park Hotel.  I immediately contacted my friend Don, who is a photographer, to check it out.

The Northland's News Center reports the Hibbing Fire Department indicated that the fire appeared to have started in a wall between two rooms.  Those rooms suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage.

The fire was investigated and determine to be accidental, however, the building sustained $20,000 in damages.  A portion of the hotel and he pool area will remained closed until further notice to allow cleaning and restoration.

The guests of the rooms involved were not there at the time of the fire.
