Veteran's Day was this week and coming up in December, the Northland will have another event to honor those who have served.

The 10th Annual Veterans’ Remembrance Dinner will be held December 4th in the Great Hall of the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center (the Depot.) Featured speakers Thomas Werner, Executive Director, and Ryan Welch, Airport Facilities Manager, from the Duluth International Airport, both veterans from the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, will present on their roles as military and combat engineers in the northern half of Afghanistan from 2009-2010.

The Annual Veteran’s Remembrance Dinner, with seating for 200, will be held from 5 - 8 pm on that Thursday evening. Attendees will be treated to a special menu prepared by the Arrowhead Professional Chefs’ Association, who are donating their services. The meal will be served by members of the University of Duluth’s Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) and the event will be attended by the Duluth Honor Guard.

All proceeds will benefit the Veterans’ Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society designed to preserve local veterans’ stories that reach back from the Civil War to the present.

This special meal and program is open to the public and is a vital fundraiser for Veterans’ Memorial Hall. This community-based event is also being sponsored by many leading local businesses providing their support for the Veterans’ Memorial Hall mission.
