We bought a new washer and dryer a while ago, and it was a good time to check the dryer vents to make sure they are clean.  Lint sometimes gets caught up and it doesn't take long to really become a problem.

I usually clean ours every 6-12 months as it's recommended.  This time tough, I pulled out tons of dryer lint!  So much in fact, that I threw away the fexible dryer vent and pieced together a real, steel rigid one.  With less ridges, they tend to be a better, safer, and recommended way to go.

So be sure to clean out your vents!  It's a huge cause of house fires.  In fact, when I was growing up, our dryer caught fire because of this.  Because of that experience, I never go to bed while the dryer is running.
