This coming weekend is the Bayfield Apple Festival.  Many people go to view the fall colors with the apple festival the final destination.  If you can't make the trip this year, the Duluth Lion's Club has you covered.  Crisp, cool, Cortland apples.  Good for baking, eating, sharing and benefiting the community!  It's the 18th Annual Duluth Lions Club Apple Harvest Sale and you're missing out if you don't order NOW!

I use to be a Duluth Lions Club member and I know how hard they work throughout the year to raise money that benefits many in our community.  They support so many, people with diabetes, sight and hearing and youth needs. "We Serve"  is the motto of the club. They are one of over 46,000 clubs in 206 countries throughout the world, which I know is true because I saw the Lion's Club sign when I was in Jamaica!

This is a win/win for all when you purchase a bushel or a peck of fresh Bayfield Cortland Apples during the 18th Annual Duluth Lions Club Apple Harvest Sale.

First let's break down the difference between a bushel and a peck because that always confused me.  A peck is the smaller of the two and you'll receive about 10lbs of delicious apples for $12 per peck.  The bushel is a great way to go if you want to share with friends or family, that's approximately 40 lbs and the cost is $45 per bushel.  This is the same prices as last year, finally a food product that hasn't gone up in price!

You can purchase your apples from any Duluth Lions Club member, Tom at 218.728.4565 or Gail at 218.348.6310.  Apple tickets are also available at the downtown location of DTCU, 11 West 2nd Street, Duluth.

Then, pick up of your order at the Kenwood Shopping Center parking lot on Arrowhead Road either Wednesday, October 14 from 5-7p or Thursday, October 15, noon to 7p.  You can also use these locations to drop off your gently used blankets, hats, jackets, etc for the Union Gospel Mission when you pick up your apples.

Remember, all proceeds are returned to the community to benefit local service projects!  And if you make apple pie, I'd love if you shared a piece :)
