If you have traveled on London Road recently, you have probably been frustrated with the long lines of traffic heading west in the morning and east in the evening. I can't imagine living there and having to deal with the traffic on a day to day basis.  City officials are hoping to make improvements in the future and your input is needed.

The City of Duluth and the Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Interstate Council (MIC) are holding a public meeting to discuss community feedback about the current and future use of London Road between 10th Ave East and 21st Ave East. Over 200 residents were surveyed and those results will be presented at the meeting. Some of the results are:

  • 80% found that there are issues with crossing London Road on foot and by car.
  • 50% believe that London Road does not function well today.
  • 75% see London Road as a “walkable-bikeable mixed-use corridor” in the future.

They are hoping to gather community input to create a vision for London Road that encapsulates safety and usability for pedestrians, motorists, and bicyclists.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meeting on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1100 Superior Street. Please enter the building from London Road.

For more information about the meeting, contact John Judd with the City of Duluth Planning Division at (218) 730-5301 or James Gittemeier with the MIC at 218-529-7548.
