Kids are bombarded by many things nowadays. They spend hours playing video games, watching TV, playing sports, texting, and on the computer. Only a couple of minutes each day can help prevent a lifetime of problems.
Americans use a lot of energy. A LOT. In fact, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the United States burned up a whopping 98 quadrillion BTUs of energy in 2010, up from 95 quadrillion a year prior—a mind-boggling amount of energy consumption for a country that only makes up about 4.5 percent of the global population. Worldwide BTU usage is approximately 500 quadrillion, so that means that nearly a fifth of the world’s energy is being consumed by the United States.

According to a new survey from CouponCabin.com of 2,570 adults, 50 percent play the lottery. And of that percentage, 65 percent would continue to live frugally it they happened to win big.
But would a frugal life include keeping their job and continuing to draw their salary?

At least the family is safe, but just as the kids were excited to get back to school, fire has taken everything from a Deer River family of five. The Northland is great at helping those in need and our area Red Cross is hoping we can help this family.
