History

Why do grown men dress as women and women dress as naughty nurses today (not that I'm complaining)?  Why do we eat our weight in mini candy bars?  The history of Halloween dates back to ancient Celtic festivals, about 2,000 years ago.  As it arrived in America much later, Halloween wasn't something celebrated across the country.

Sure, I have one, my daughter's OLD one, because we've been upgrading her and I get her hand-me-downs.  On Sunday, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iPod, the day that Steve Jobs introduced it on stage.  It changed the world and since technology continues to move forward, they aren't seen as much.  Now we see the more popular iPhone and iPad.

Amanda Knox, the young lady from Seattle has been acquitted!  She and two others were named suspects in the murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher.  She has spent the last four years living in an Italian prison, proclaiming her innocence.  According to MSNCB.com, in an Italian Courtroom this morning, it was learned, she is free.  Watch the verdict as it's read.

Congratulations to the Rascal Flatts trio.  They will be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on October 8th, during the Opry's 86th birthday celebration. While on stage, Vince Gill surprised them with an invitation to join the Opry.  They then surprised the audience, by performing with Vince.  They sang one of Vince Gill's hits from 1994, "Whenever You Come Around".  Here's the performance.

There are so many things I have heard over the years about raising my child and I know speaking to other people about their kids they repeat some of this stuff to me. So when I saw this article I felt I NEEDED to pass it on.

Love, Love, Love Doritos....especially with salsa!  My daughter likes to lick all the cheese off first, then eat the chip.  It's a staple in our house and I've never really thought about where they came from, until now.  The creator of Doritos has just passed at age 97.  Here's the history of  how Doritos came to be.

I've always loved dinosaurs, but what guy didn't grow up like that?  I even took a class at UMD called 'The Life And Death Of Dinosaurs'.  At the time taking that class also meant I never had to take another science class, like the ones with labs (they since have closed that loophole).   It's pretty much accepted that a asteroid was a primary culprit in their demise, but from where?
