Grandma’s Marathon

Grandma's Marathon weekend is coming up June 15 - June 16 and the upcoming Gearing Up For Grandma's pre-race seminar will help kick training into full gear.

Grandma's Marathon announced today the headliners for the Big Top Entertainment for Friday June 15th and Friday June 16th, with a little bit of a change for the layout of the night, providing an earlier headline act and an after party act.

If running is a part of your 2018 fitness plans, Grandma's Marathon announced that registration is now open for all Young Athletes Foundation races.

As 2017 winds down, it's the perfect time to start turning our attention to our plans and goals for 2018. If one such goal is to conquer Grandma's Marathon, why not sign up this year and save money?

If want to participate in any of the Grandma's Marathon races next year, make sure you're logged on and ready to register at 5:00 p.m. this Sunday, October 1.   Remember, there is no longer lottery in place for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and runners will get in on a first-come, first-served basis. That race could fill up fast.

Grandma's Marathon is just one of the events that puts Duluth on the map.  They are in full swing with their Wednesday Night at the Races at this time.  Running events like that have spurred several 5K races to crop up, mostly as fundraisers for non-profits and due to that we have a huge running community in the Northland.  These are some of my favorites, maybe you have a few different ones, what'

The 12th Annual Minnesota Mile will be a bit more scenic with the new one mile loop to be moved from downtown Duluth.  Registration is now open and fills up fast.  Whether you are a seasoned vet of running or this is your first race, it promises to showcase Duluth's finest views.

Many things go into the basement at the Grandma's Marathon Headquarters. Beverages for volunteers, hospitality, the DECC, the media center, and many other support volunteers. There are boxes full of things that will be dropped off for different stops or tents for volunteers.

You go down to the DECC and you pick up your race packet, it has information about the area, your timing chip, and other things. Where does it come from, who does that. Well, I investigated and was even made to do the line of info. See if I can keep and what is in a packet.

The 1990s (and early 2000s) were alive and well on Friday night for Grandma's Marathon Weekend 2017 as organizers welcomed rockers Everclear and opening acts Vertical Horizon and Fastball.
