First off, a huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped out with Stuff The Trailer!  We had a TON of supplies to deliver to local schools.  We stopped by to visit Cloquet's Churchill Elementary, and Willow River's school.

I remember sitting on the stairs and having my dad show me the two different ways to tie my shoes.  I must have been about 6 or 7, when I learned about the bunny ears, or the rabbit running around the tree.  I realized yesterday that our 8 year old, going into 3rd grade, didn't know how to tie his shoes when we got him new ones for school.  How could this be!?  Here's the reason.

Cathy and I did a live broadcast today for Stuff The Trailer at Cub Foods.  We asked people to swing by and buy a $5 bag for school supplies that we will donate to local youth organizations for back to school needs.  We had a great turnout and we want to thank everyone!

I had the honor of joining the WITC staff for Jump Start day.  It's a day where students who are already register can learn more about what to expect with campus life and get the tools they'll need for their course.  It's also a chance for people who are considering WITC can go to talk with instructors and find out if they are eligible for financial aid.  I was surprised to find out things about W

At the Northland Wellness Community Day this year, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN had a very interesting booth. They used the energy of guests to generate power for their smoothie machine to provide healthy samples.

Yesterday I was looking through Facebook when I saw a post that linked to a Craigslist rant.  It's since been removed, but the message was "how do landlords expect us to pay $900-$1300 a month for rent?"   Also, "It would be cheaper to own a house."   In some cases, that is definitely true.  But why do landlords charge what they do for rent for homes?

Have you ever been to the planetarium at UMD?  As a child I use to love going there for field trips.  It was so much fun for us kids and interesting for the chaperones.  If you haven't been there or haven't been there for some time, consider going during Astronomy Day.

Finding fun things for the family to do can be a challenge, especially this time of year.  Finding free things to do poses an even greater challenge.  Luckily, the Students of Science at UWS have a great, free family event lined up this week to help you out.

Interested in law enforcement?  Before you enroll in a college course like my nephew Eric did, get a taste of the real thing and volunteer your time to be a 2016 Duluth Citizen Police Academy.  It's an 11 week course with both classroom and field instructions, are you up for it?

The University of Wisconsin-Superior will be conducting their Winter Commencement on Saturday, December 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. inside the Thorpe Langley Auditorium in Old Main.  There are many noteable graduates, but one graduate is receiving their diploma 46 years after starting college.

Tuesday will be a big day for local 10th and 11th grade students and me!  They will be gathering information to shape their future careers and I will be a first time panelist at the Kids Plus Pathway to Careers, an event organized and conducted by the Northland Foundation.
