The main thing to keep in mind is to check your area for restrictions before you burn, and obtain proper permits so that you are aware of restrictions which may impact you.  Best to error on the side of caution on this.  While many burning restrictions remain in place, the Department of Natural Resources is lifting them in several northern Minnesota counties yet this week.

According to our partners at the Northlands News Center, on May 16, burning restrictions will be lifted in Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Pennington, Polk, Roseau and St. Louis Counties.

On May 21, burning restrictions will be lifted in Lake and Cook Counties.

The lifting will remove the spring seasonal open burning restrictions throughout the state.

Although, special burning restrictions continue in parts of Pine County due to large amounts of fire-fuel from the blowdown in 2011.
