It's amazing that we are still in recovery mode from a flood that happened almost two years ago.  That really gives us perspective as to how catastrophic the weather event was in our region.  The rebuilding and reconstructing is continuing and you should be aware of a couple of bridge repairs slated to start on April 30th.

The City of Duluth will be reconstructing both the 63rd Ave West and Bristol Street Bridges at Keene Creek.  The City has prepared plans and specifications for these bridge projects, and the DNR permits are in place.

Keene Creek is a designated trout stream, and the DNR has permit restrictions on work being done in a trout stream to protect trout migration and spawning. However, they are allowing construction to start April 30th, 2014. The actual start date will depend on spring runoff and will take an estimated 3 months of construction to complete each street.  This should be something you mark on your calendar for future reference.

They will make every effort to have construction completed as soon as possible and thank residents in advance for their patience. If you have questions or comments for either project contact Patrick Loomis, PE, Project Engineer, City of Duluth, at ploomis@duluthmn.gov or by phone at (218) 730-5094.
