I often hear about the benefits of drinking beer.  Since I'm a runner I wasn't sure that those benefits would be something that affected me.  But, after research, I found it certainly does!  My bones!  You don't have to be a runner to want healthy bones, you'd just be a blob if you didn't have bones, so if you're 21 consider the health of your bones at Twin Ports on Tap.

Don't laugh, and you might not believe this, but a study that came out in 2010 that I read on webMD.com is that it's the high silicon content in beer that's beneficial.  I've always thought silicon is in the body "elsewhere".

It's a dietary silicon that they're talking about so it's in a soluble form and they say it's important for the growth and development of bone and connective tissues.  Maybe if I would have drank more beer I wouldn't have needed three ankle surgeries! If I had only known!!!

In fact, the National Institutes of Health says that moderate beer drinking may even help reduce the risk of the bone-thinning disease osteoporosis.  They're still evaluating that fact, but wouldn't that be a wonderful thing as we all continue aging?

Unlike the daily recommended allowances for most things you find in food (I'm a package reader), there really isn't a recommendation for silicon.  But they are saying depending on your size 1 to 2 liters should do the trick.  Hey, they say wine is good for your heart and blood, why wouldn't beer be good for your bones?

Why not do your bones a favor and get some seriously fun face time with your friends at Twin Ports on Tap.  We've got four hours of craft beer sampling from several different breweries all under one roof and your designated driver gets in for only $5.  You'll taste signature beers, regional favorites and let's not forget what season we're in, some of the best tasting beers are brewed in the Fall...no bones about it!
