Be Aware Of Traffic Accidents & Delays During Tall Ships

The Tall Ships have started to arrive in Duluth, and my commute this afternoon was a little adventurous.   There were three accidents downtown, likely caused by motorists turning their attention to the majestic ships sailing into the harbor.  21st Avenue East exit was closed because of an accident, and Canal Park and the streets leading to it were gridlocked.

Mn Dot is advising people take caution, drive safely, expect delays, and allow extra time.  They also suggest an alternate route as follows:

Alternate route from the Twin Cities: I-35 to North Branch. West on State Hwy. 95 to Cambridge. North on State Hwy. 65 to Mora. East on State Hwy. 23 to Hinckley. North on I-35 to Duluth.

Keep cool heads while out driving, and enjoy the Tall Ships.  They really are something to see!
