Ken Hayes

Hello, thanks for visiting my page! I've been here at B105 since 2007, and I've been a part of the Northland my whole life! I was born and raised on the Iron Range, and I've hopped around a few different parts of the country before returning to the Twin Ports where I call home. I love being close to the woods and the lakes where I can fish and hunt, and I think this is a great place for my wife and I to raise our kids. I love doing the Breakfast Club each morning with my co-host Cathy, and I thank you for waking up with us!

Brian Williams Got A Reasonable Punishment for His Storytelling Controversy from NBC

I have always been a big fan of Brian Williams.  I thought he did a great job on the Nightly News.  I remember him from when he was just a reporter that would sit in with the legendary Tom Brokaw.  It really sucked when we found out that he had gotten caught up in his stories.  It's been tough to see his fall from grace.  NBC has given him a second chance, but not where he once was.

5 Deadly Historic Lake Superior Shipwrecks You’ve Never Heard About

When you think of historic Lake Superior Shipwrecks, most think of The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald.  It's no doubt the most recent and deadly shipwreck on Lake Superior.  But did you know there have been hundreds of shipwrecks?  Some of them even took place right outside of the Aerial Lift Bridge!

Things Only People Who Live In a 100 Year Old House Will Understand

Old houses are pretty cool!  They have lots of character, they have stood the test of time, and many people buy them every year.  If you live in a house built in the late 19th century, or early 20th century than you no doubt have dealt with these things.

Lifetime’s Parody Movie Starring Will Smith & Kristen Wiig Releases Another Official Trailer [VIDEO]

I still don't know what to think about this movie.  It's supposed to be a parody, but looking at the trailer you would never guess it.  Lifetime is supposedly poking fun at their own genre of movies they've produced over the years.  So far, "Deadly Adoption," shows us cliche after cliche.

Tower Soudan Underground Mine Takes You Half A Mile Down into the Earth [VIDEO]

The Tower Soudan Underground Mine is located in Northern Minnesota and offers tours of the now closed down underground mine.   This morning during our "Are you smarter than Cathy" trivia game, I asked her how far down the mine shaft went.  The answer was 2,341 feet, which is about 2,160 feet more than she thought.  (She had no idea.)

Watch Two Semitrucks Drive Side By Side Sharing The Same Load [VIDEO]

This was a first for me, and I saw it this weekend on the Iron Range.  State Patrol cars came down the highway and were actually driving in the opposite lane, forcing the traffic off the road completely.  Then, the semi trailers appeared driving side by side, on the back was a large piece of mining equipment straddling both trailers.

One of Science’s Unsolved Mysteries is Right Up The North Shore at Devil’s Kettle [VIDEO]

Recently I was reading an article that was talking about mysterious places in the world that scientists can't figure out.  Turns out one of them is on the North Shore in Minnesota at Judge C.R. Magney State Park.  It's a waterfall that splits along the rocks.  Half of it goes down stream, and the other goes down a pothole to nowhere.
