Are We Going To Get A White Christmas In Minnesota + Wisconsin? Northland Meteorologist Weighs In

Did you know that there are actual criteria for determining if it's technically a white Christmas or not?

We learned that today from our WDIO meteorologist Brandon Weatherz. I asked him today during the segment if we had a chance of it being a White Christmas in the Twin Ports. He said we had a chance - but not a very good one.

The reason he says it's not looking good is because the actual determination of a "White Christmas" is observations at 6 am on Christmas morning. There has to be one inch of snow on the ground for it to be considered a white Christmas, and it doesn't look good for that.

According to Brandon Weatherz, AMS certified Meteorologist, above-average temperatures will return starting tomorrow and continuing through Christmas.

There is a chance of precipitation right now for Christmas Eve, but it likely will start as rain and then turn to snow later on Christmas Day. So that means that we could see some snowflakes on Christmas. Will it stick to the ground? We'll have to see how the system develops.

The region has seen unseasonably warm weather with our average highs consistently 10-15 degrees above average for this time of the year.

In the Twin Cities Metro Area, temperatures are supposed to be a few degrees warmer. We're looking at highs near 50 for this coming weekend.
