Father's Day is coming up this Sunday, June 16.  When I think of that day, many great country songs about dads come to mind, but there are 5 that truly stand out for me.

Listening to these 5 songs on Father's Day will make you feel special as a dad and it will also make you think of your dad, whether you're lucky enough to still have him in your life or not.

"The Best Day" by George Strait
The obvious George Strait choice is "Love Without End, Amen", but I've always loved this song for the lyrics that express real excitement for a kid to spend time with his dad.

"Tough Little Boys" by Gary Allan
When it comes to songs about being a dad, it's hard to beat this classic from Gary Allan.  The lyrics are so very true.  As crazy as I was as a kid, as a dad I'm so protective of my kids that my wife calls my parenting style "bubble wrap".

"Song For Dad" by Keith Urban
This song wasn't a hit for Keith Urban, but it should've been.  For anyone who reflects back on good memories, this song is the best.  I especially love the line "When somebody says I hope to get to meet your dad, I just smile and say you already have".  It's so true.  We are our parents.

"He Didn't Have To Be" by Brad Paisley
I was very fortunate to have a terrific step-dad in my life.  His name was Bob Sandwick and we lost him to cancer years ago.  It didn't take long for me to just call him 'dad' because of how he treated my mom and my sisters and me.  I know there are a lot of men doing that every single day, even though they don't have to.  Here's to the awesome step-dads!

"That's My Job" by Conway Twitty

The quintessential "dad" song (yes, I Googled the spelling of that word, but I know what it means).  It simply doesn't get any better than this tearjerker from the late, great Conway Twitty.  That last verse into chorus gets me every single time.

I know there are countless other songs I could've put on this list, but these are all home run choices to me.

Have a Happy Father's Day!
