One of my biggest fears came true last night as a parent, when our 2 year old daughter began choking on her dinner.  It was serious, and it was terrifying.  Luckily we were able to clear the obstruction within about 30 seconds, but it was a very frightening experience.  Would you know what to do?

In our case, Jane had began coughing while she was eating dinner.  She then stopped making any noise and had a wide eyed panicked look.  My wife ran over to her and smacked her on the back about 4 or 5 times when fortunately she coughed out the piece of potato she was choking on.  But what would we have done if that didn't work?  Here's some great videos that I found.

It's also a great idea to take a training class from the American Red Cross.
