The huge wind shift and strong wind gusts that accompanied it yesterday evening cause some problems for a sailboat. These sailors were participating in the first Wednesday night sailboat race when the gust caused them to go sideways and drift into the lift bridge.

Luckily the mast snapped in half and the boat didn't capsize. This all happened when the wind shift dropped temperatures nearly 40 degrees in a matter of minutes. The wind gusts were reported as high as 38 miles per hour.

I have a little sailing experience myself, and by far the hardest part of sailing is strong winds, which you would think would be good for sailing, but it can be hard to manage the boat and gusts can cause you to easily lose control.
