Grandma's Marathon and the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is slated for Saturday, June 16 this year.  Just as popular is the William A. Irvin 5K, which will fill to it's capacity of 1900 runners quickly.  It's held the Friday night before the marathons and registration opens tomorrow.  Here's the details, good luck getting in and with your training.

Registration for the 19th annual William A. Irvin 5K opens at 12:01 a.m. (CDT) on Thursday, March 15.

The field limit for the 2012 race is 1,900 — an increase of 200 from last year when the capacity was reached in three weeks. To register, runners should visit www.GrandmasMarathon.com beginning Thursday. The entry fee is $30.

The 3.1-mile run begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 15, near the permanently docked William A. Irvin ore boat on Duluth’s waterfront and is the kickoff for running events during Grandma's Marathon weekend. Registration remains open for the 36th annual Grandma’s Marathon set for Saturday, June 16, while the entry process for the 22nd annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is closed.

Runners and race fans from around the world will participate in the 36th annual Grandma's Marathon weekend, which is presented by Toyota and Wells Fargo Bank Duluth. Also part of the 2012 race weekend is the USA Half Marathon Championships featuring an $82,000 purse for the top half-marathoners in the U.S.
