Have you ever wondered why you need to sign your fishing license?  It's always seemed silly to me.  I bought it, it has my name on it, so why do I need to sign it?  Today we were talking about the Fishing Opener with DNR Conservation Officer Mike Scott, and I asked him this simple question.

So why do we need to sign it?   According to Mike, it's because it shows that you accept ownership of the license, you can't transfer it, and you understand the regulations and laws that go with it.

He also said they joke that it's a felony if it's not signed, but that's not the case.

So make sure you get your licenses for this weekend, make sure you sign it, and make sure you are safe out there!
