It's anticipated by many every year, the William A. Irvin Haunted Ship.  The ship itself is daunting while it ominously looms in Canal Park.  Standing next to it you can hear the creaking of the ship's side against the tires as it's anchored and that's in broad daylight in July.  But, the ship is transformed in the month of October and filled with gore, zombies, ghosts and things that follow you through your tour.  Here's answers to your questions about the Haunted Ship in Duluth.

Kudos to the crew that puts on the Haunted Ship every year.  It seriously takes hundreds to construct the ghoulish inside and outside of the ship, volunteers that are the actors and actresses every night it's open and those that put their talent to work with creative ideas for makeup and wardrobe.  Again, most are volunteers, their dedication and passion is prevalent every night the haunted ship is open, come see for yourself.

The theme this year is:  What The Government Won’t Tell You!  The description from the decc.org website is:

Venture deep into the Government’s deepest secrets, but beware, once you learn the truth, there may be no return. Many that know the truth now reside government based asylums, where they await medical experimentation. If you escape, you may find yourself in a prison cell and the only exit is the tunnel of death. Area 51 is not the only location with confirmed alien sightings.

Tickets are $12, but if you bring a non-perishable food item or a new/gently used coat, you can get $2 off.  If you're a college student, bring your ID and a friend for a BOGO.  If you want to bring a group 20 or larger, you can get a special rate with advanced reservations.  Keep in mind that no child under 12 is admitted without a parent, so don't just drop your kids off and wait for a call to pick them up.  You can get your tickets at the William A. Irvin using check or cash only, sorry they don't accept credit cards.

They have a few snacks for purchase while you're waiting in line. Dress warm it's gets cold while you're waiting for your turn and remember (especially ON Halloween), if you're wearing a costume that has a mask or head covering of any sort, you'll be asked to take it off and leave it outside the ship in a cubby hole.  Oh, and bring some extra money, there's an awesome gift shop at the end of the tour with some t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and other things I'm sure you'll want.
