Today my wife and I had our 20 week ultra sound and we were able to see the first images of a developing fetus.  Considering the last time we saw the baby it was the size of a bean, it's hard to believe how far it's come in just a few short months.

I wasn't sure what to expect.  Up until now the few visits we've had were pretty quick.  This one took much longer.  The ultra sound itself took about an hour, and then we had a follow up with our Dr.

The fetus now weighs 12 ounces which is as heavy as a pop can.  It's developing normally and has all the limbs and even some big feet!  (Not a surprise, I've got size 14.)  All of us had a good laugh a couple of times because the baby would almost play peek-a-boo with the scanner.  You'd see nothing from a certain angle, and then the head would pop out and go back into the darkness.

It's a pretty crazy feeling watching everything on the monitor and seeing it move around.  Getting a good picture was difficult at times, because it kept flipping around and keeping it's hands up in it's face.  The 4D imaging was pretty cool, and we got this cool picture.

Heart rate this trip was 144, which is right in the middle.  We stuck to our guns and told them not to let us know if it's a boy or a girl, and it's still a surprise!
