What's better than waking up to the smell of a hot breakfast?  Waking up to a HEALTHY hot breakfast that you have brewin' in the crock pot so it's ready when you are.  It's another try and true recipe from Taste of Home, a source you can trust for easy, delicious recipes!Get your grains, veggies and fruit right off the bat!  I've always considered crock pot cooking a dinner thing.  Taste of Home has opened up a whole new world for me with crook pot breakfast cooking.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4-1/2 cups water
  • 1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 2 cups shredded carrots
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Brown sugar, optional

MAKE IT (a good morning)!

Spray your slow cooker with cooking spray (4-qt size works best).   Simply put all the ingredients EXCEPT for the brown sugar in crock, cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.  Oats should be tender.  Before serving, sprinkle with brown sugar.
